Age-based structure with some overlap across groups to accommodate experience level, allowing teams to compete locally among associations.
We play approximately 8 games per season. In addition, we host a Superbowl tournament at the end of the season.
Each association has a field in their own community, including public parks and/or high school stadiums, where home games are held. Practice will be held 2-4 times weekly at the discretion of the coach at a local field within your community.
Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (PWLS) requires its participants to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. A 2.0/70% or the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average acceptable to participate, with some associations offering tutoring services when needed. We understand that not all student-athletes are able to meet our scholastic requirements. If a child does not meet the requirements of scholastic fitness, he/she may fill out and submit a Scholastic Eligibility Form.
Each year we fundraise in order to offer financial scholarships to those in need. To inquire further regarding scholarships, email us at nmpopwarner@gmail.com for an application.
We believe that equipment lending programs leads to unnecessary wear and tear, which can result in safety issues. Instead, our players purchase their own helmets and shoulder pads, and our registration cost is lower than that of similar programs to accommodate the equipment purchase. We provide information on vendors to make your shopping seamless.
Sideline cheerleaders will perform at home and away games. Teams may be divided by age or mixed up at the discretion of each association. Contact your association for more details.
Competitive cheer is a year-around activity. In the fall, cheerleaders will be participating in sideline cheer at home and away games for their association, as well as competing locally, regionally, and nationally. In the Spring, cheerleaders will participate in local and regional competitions.
NM League cheer competition champions for each age division compete in the SouthWest regional championship; winners go on to compete nationally.
